Valentine’s Day Breakfast with Hartley’s Jam

For Valentine’s Day I wanted to make a special breakfast perfect for putting on a tray and surprising someone with a delicious breakfast in bed. I give you my heart shaped toast, bacon and eggs and jammy hearts served with a gorgeous cup of tea. (The bacon is under the egg I might have cut it too small whoops but it tasted brilliant)

Of course everything is heart shaped! I made heart eggs and put them on bacon (I cut it to fit the heart – obsessive yes I know) on heart toast. I then made some very delicious heart toast pieces and covered them in Hartley’s strawberry jam. They were soooo good. Making the heart shaped toast was easy. I toasted a regular slice of bread, buttered it and then I used a cookie cutter to stamp the shape. Using the different sized cutters worked well to not leave too many scraps. Plus it looked so cute on the plate. The bacon is hard to see under the egg but it was there and it was lovely to make a bacon and egg heart sandwich.

I’d never made eggs with a ring before and it worked surprisingly well. I’d recommend lightly greasing the metal with oil first to help the egg come out when it’s cooked. I had to use a knife to cut it free. Luckily the heart stayed in it’s cute shape. I was very impressed I got the yolk in the middle.

Heart shaped toast pre-buttering. They were so cute. Why is shaped toast so much more fun than regular toast?

Toasty jam hearts and tea is a gorgeous way to start the day and share the love.
Hartley’s strawberry jam is my favourite! Big strawberry jam heart toast is certainly a way to win me over.
I’ll be having this for breakfast until I run out of jam! Strawberry jam always reminds me of summer and lots of fresh fruit. The jam tastes fresh and satisfactionally gooey.

I love this heart shaped mug. I love tea. There is a lot of love in this little cup.

Although not the most over the top breakfast it was so delicious and very heartfelt. If I could have got some ripe watermelon and large enough strawberries I would have cut some hearts out of them to make a fruit salad with.

Thank you Hartley’s for sending me the gorgeous heart shaped mug, heart egg ring and jam.
It was a superb breakfast.
