Chocolate Flapjacks

Flapjacks when made right are very special indeed! I love a soft set flapjack and the recent discovery of adding chocolate has changed the way I will make and eat these forever!

It’s a really simple way to making flapjacks. Add everything to the pan and melt down and then add the oats. Simple!

600g oats
200g condensed milk
250g golden caster sugar
3tbsp heaped golden syrup
300g butter
200g chocolate, I like dark but milk tastes good too.

-Preheat the oven to 160ºC and line 9 x 12 inch tin with greaseproof paper. It’s so much easier for getting them out.
-Add the butter, golden syrup, sugar and condensed milk to a saucepan and on a low heat melt together.
-Remove from the heat and stir in the oats.
-Spoon into the tin and level off. Cook for about 20 minutes until light golden brown.
-Cut them while they are still got and leave to cool.
-Melt the chocolate and dip the flapjacks in. I like dipping half so you get a mix of with and without chocolate.

You can also add a few handfuls of any nuts or dried fruit you like to the mix before spooning it in to the tin.

    I am a huge sucker for flapjacks!!! Usually I go for the sweet jammy variety but your photos are seriously tempting me now… I have a pack of store bought flapjacks in the cupboard would it be so bad to go and dip them in chocolate? Perhaps I’ll just have to book mark this and make my own 😉 great recipe!

    I really love a flapjack but rarely make them – these look so pretty dipped in he chocolate!

      I always thought they would be really overly complicated but they aren’t and these are so tasty x

    Do you use quick cooking oats or regular?

      Use regular oats for these flapjacks!
