Aldi Drinks and Chocolate Pairings for Easter
There is nothing better than a sip of alcohol and a perfectly paired chocolate to enjoy it with. Some of these Aldi wines and spirits are brilliant for cocktail making but also work so well on their own.
I was so luck to receive this pairing hamper from Aldi. It contained a fabulous range of drinks and chocolates which work with them perfectly.
Aldi were kind enough to suggest which chocolates and spirits work together and the first one was the Chavalier Cognac and the milk chocolate Moser Roth chocolate. It was so good. The Cognac only £15.99 was so good and worked very well with the chocolate. The milk chocolate was smooth and a little bar with a small measure of Cognac was a lovely after dinner treat. The Moser Roth packets contain 5 mini bars which are a nice size and perfect for not sharing.
A lovely after dinner treat. I had never had Cognac before and I really liked it, even if a little strong for my liking on its own the chocolate mellowed it. I was surprised how it was sweet it was and how it worked so well with a sweet chocolate pairing.
The Old Hopking Rum from Aldi has been a favourite of mine for a while and plus it’s only £9.79! The rich rum flavour with the chocolate mousse chocolate (£1.79) is incredible. I wouldn’t have pegged orange and rum would work but they really really do! I really love chocolate and orange together and the addition of rum is wow. I am trying to work out how I can put these flavours together in a bake. I’m thinking they would work well in cookies.
The Caversham Cream Sherry paired with the Moser Roth dark chocolate orange and almond (£1.19) is an odd but pleasurable flavouring. I do love Sherry. It always reminds me of summer trifles and sunshine. It has a lovely creamy taste but also rich, nutty and oddly had a subtle orangey flavour of its own which complimented the chocolate perfectly. A little glass of sherry and a little bar of chocolate was so nice. A lovely Sunday afternoon treat for me this weekend.
Port is an odd flavour and like a super red wine you don’t need much of it. Fletcher’s Fine Ruby Port (£6.49) is very full bodied but has a sweetness to it which is gorgeous. There is a distinct plum and damson flour. It’s fruity and so smooth and paired with the rich Moser Roth dark chocolate (£1.19) it’s an absolute treat.
The Aldi spirit and chocolate pairing collection is brilliant as you have a little chocolate and a little alcohol.
It’s enough to feel completely satisfied. I think a bottle and a few bars of chocolate would be a lovely Easter gift for friends instead of a simple chocolate egg this year.
I was sent these gorgeous items to review. All opinions are my own.
