Lavender Creme Brulee

Sainsbury’s have some fabulous baking kits and have just added a Creme Brulee one to the collection.

 I couldn’t wait to try it and I decided, as my mum is a fan of them, I would make them for Mother’s Day.
I could have left it at as a plain Brulee but to make it special I added edible lavender. This made the finished Creme Brulee so much more special and it tasted wonderful.

 I love the cracked sugar layer on the top of the custardy lavender mix.

 I added 2 teaspoons of edible lavender to the cream and milk when I put it on the hob. The smell which filled the kitchen was so sweet and made me feel a little sleepy. The main part of this was so quick to do and then you let it cool on the side before putting in the fridge for a few hours.

 Going under the grill and melting the sugar was stunning. Using the grill was very very clever and be warned the ramekins get so so hot so be careful. I would recommend eating them straight away hot as they didn’t last over night very well.

    This looks delicious; funnily enough I had a creme brulee in a local curry restaurant this weekend flavoured with garam masala. Sounds horrid but it was delicious. Where did you buy the edible lavender? I wouldn’t have a clue where to look!

      Curry Creme Brulee sounds very very weird but I am intrigued. I get the edible lavender from The Hop Shop. It’s a good company and a small bag lasts ages x

    Ooh wow, this sounds so yummy! I’m a big fan of lavender, but have only ever eaten in chocolate before – I have a feeling I’d definitely like this though. You’ve got me hungry now haha!

      I am glad you like the sound of it and want to try it. The edible lavender works really well in biscuits too!

    Wow! I didn’t even know you could buy kits! I love creme brûlée. I’m going to pick a kit up tonight! Will let you know how it goes! 🙂
