I love Yutaka products so getting the chance to review some was something I couldn’t pass up.
This delicious soy sauce is gluten free and tastes exactly the same as regular soy sauce. It’s a very handy and useful store cupboard ingredient. I was very excited when I saw two packets of miso soup. I love miso soup and it is so useful as a stock for soups but also a brilliant lunch soup on it’s own. The Akadashi flavour was really gorgeous. I love the red colour and I can’t wait to use it more.
I had never heard of Konnyaku before and getting to try the white and brown versions was interesting. It looks like weird squidgy jelly and is made from the roots of a plant called konjac. It has almost no calories, no sugar and no fat. If you can get over that it’s savoury jelly you’ll love it. The first few mouthfuls I kept expecting to be sweet but it doesn’t really have a taste on it’s own. It does absorb flavours it’s cooked in so when making a noodle soup I used miso soup as the base the Konnyaku has a pleasing miso taste. Be careful when cutting it up as it’s like jelly it’s hard to get a good grip on it.
I don’t know if I would buy it again but I enjoyed trying it.
The shirataki noodles were delicious. It’s in a bag of water to keep them soft and it’s so weird to hold. It’s rather entertaining. The bag was a brilliant portion for two.
I was sent these items to review. All opinions are my own.
