I love this healthy oat crumble topping. It works with all types of fruit and is the perfect make-ahead dessert. My crumble topping with oats can be frozen and sprinkled over your apples, plums, or any fruit at all just before baking. In my opinion, there is nothing better than an easy apple crumble with oats topping drizzled in custard.
Put the flour, caster sugar and rolled oats and mix together along with any spices. I would recommend a sprinkle of cinnamon.
200 g plain flour / all purpose flour, 75 g golden caster sugar, 100 g rolled oats
Add the unsalted butter to the mixing bowl.
150 g unsalted butter
Rub the ingredients together with your fingers and thumbs to create a crumble texture.
Set aside until you're ready to cook it. It can be kept in the fridge or even frozen for a later date.
How to bake a crumble

Notes
Keeps very well in the fridge for up 2 days.Make the crumble topping ahead of time and store it in the freezer and bake from frozen. (It will still be malleable).
