Dog and Fox Hotel Wimbledon

The Dog and Fox Hotel Wimbledon is a centre point for all activites in SW19. I was lucky enough to stay and experience their delicious room service.

Not so long ago I was treated to a fabulous night at The Dog & Fox in Wimbledon Village. On a cold autumn night I was checked into the beautiful Fox Suite.

The gorgeous room was spectacular and so inviting. A gorgeous autumn tone forest picture was behind the bed. Rich red curtains highlighted the lights from the village outside. Plus there was a huge fake fur throw on the bed added to it’s comforting cosy nature. There was also a luxurious bath in the room right next to the bed. Perfect for a hot bath before getting into the crisp white bedding.

To start the mini break we enjoyed a glass of prosecco because why not! It was Corte Delle Calli Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Superiore and so sweet and sparkly. Too easy to drink and felt very extravagant!

Of course I ordered room service. I couldn’t resist really. I enjoyed such a range of dishes with my friend including a heritage tomato salad with beetroot shavings, mozzarella and kale pesto. It was a super reminder of the summer but being so cosy in the hotel room made me happy for colder nights. To acompany the salad we also tried the sourdough bread with the choice of salted butter (always a heavenly combination) but also an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dipping pot. So simple but one of life’s luxuries.  Sisley White visits the Dog and Fox Hotel Wimbledon

For a smarter starter we indulged on the seared black pearl scallops with sweetcorn custard, crispy pancetta and micro coriander which was my friends declared as her favourite dish of the trip. We also tried the goat’s cheese and leek tart with tomato and chilli jam with vine tomatoes. The tart looked beautiful with light pastry crispy and soft crumbly cheese.

The main course for us included an incredible Aberdeen Angus fillet of beef with confit garlic potato, wilted spinach, red wine shallots, truffle oil and veal jus. Divine beef and incredible pub food entering the realm of fine dining. We also tried a proper gastro pub burger served in a brioche bun with cheese, ale onions, pickle and chunky chips. Simple but a pleasure.

Dessert Time

We may have been stuffed but we couldn’t give up before pudding! We went for a smooth vanilla bean pannacotta with summer berries and the decadent and rich dark chocolate and caramel tart. The individual puddings were very special, but together they complimented each other perfectly.

The room was so calm and warming. I loved sitting in the window reading for a while.

The gorgeous four poster bed was made with crisp white cotton sheets and the fake fur blanket added such a super cosiness to the experience.
