The first step is to thoroughly wash your jam jars and their lids in hot soapy water. You can do this one evening after doing your normal washing up to make things easier.
Then allow them to drip dry on a tea towel or cloth, try to avoid putting the cloth into the jar to dry them as this may leave behind fluff, dust or bits of the fabric.


To sterilise your jars in the air fryer, set the temperature to 140ºC and place your jars in upside down on top of some kitchen roll. Leave them in the air fryer for 10 to 15 minutes. If you have space, don’t forget to add the lids too!
Once the time is up, leave your jars in the air fryer to stay warm but cool slightly, this way you can pour your jam or other homemade goods straight into the jars without worrying about the jar cracking.

Equipment
- Washing up bowl
- Scourer
- Tea towel
Instructions
- Wash your jars and lids in hot soapy water.
- Place them upside down on a clean tea towel so excess water can drain out. Repeat until you do all the jars you need.
- Add a piece of kitchen paper to the air fryer basket and place the jar's rim side down. Add the lids too.
- Set the air fryer to 120ºC / 250ºF.
- Leave the jam jars in the air fyer for 10-15 minutes.
- Turn the air fryer off and leave them in the heat.
- For best results use the jam jars hot from the air fryer for jam. This will reduce the chance of the glass breaking.
