CLOUDY APPLE JUICE

The key ingredient to this mulled apple juice non-alcoholic is, of course, your favourite apple juice. I love using the thick, sweet cloudy apple juice for this spiced apple juice as it looks so lovely in the glass.

MULLED SPICES

For this spiced apple juice, I used cinnamon sticks and some star anise. They smell wonderful as they cook, my whole house starts to smell festive as you gently warm the apple juice. If you want to make this apple juice more festive you can add some cloves and nutmeg to your spice mix.

How to make mulled apple juice – step by step

To make this mulled apple juice you simply have to warm the apple juice and add the spices.

To start, slowly warm your cloudy apple juice on the hob, it usually takes about 5 minutes on low/medium heat.

Then add your spices and a slice of orange to the mix and let it all simmer.

Once your apple juice is nicely warmed you can pour it into your glass and decorate.

I decorate mine with one of the orange slices and a few redcurrants too.

Decorate with your spiced apple juice with redcurrants, an orange slice and some of the cinnamon sticks from the mulled apple juice non-alcoholic.

Warm your glasses for a hand warmer and a longer warm drink, pour a little water into your glass and pop it into the microwave for 15 seconds – just be sure that your glass is microwaveable first!

Mulled Apple Juice Alcoholic

If you want to adapt this recipe to make it delicious a mulled apple juice alcoholic drink then there are a few ways you can do it. An easy addition to make this drink alcoholic would be to add whisky, vodka and even rum. If you do add rum you could make this Apple Rum Punch. It is warm and delicious and the spiced rum is perfect.

I would add 25ml of your chosen spirit for a gently alcoholic drink. Up it up to 50ml for a stronger drink.

Mulled cranberry and apple juice

A simple way to make this non alcoholic drink even more festive is to add cranberry juice. You can replace some of the apple juice (about one third) and replce with cranberry juice. This works best with cloudy apple juice.

Making ahead of time options

This cocktail can easily be prepped before you’re ready to serve. You can mix the orange slices and spices into the apple juice and leave it on the hob until you are ready to warm and serve your mulled apple juice.

Can you heat up apple juice?

You can absolutely heat up apple juice, I adore warm apple juice. It’s perfect for winter, it’s sweet, non-alcoholic and takes on spices well if you want to add some cinnamon to your warm apple juice.

Non-alcoholic mulled wine is made of 0% red wine and spiced with cinnamon, cloves, anise and often ginger too! You can also buy non-alcoholic mulled wine.

  • 1 litre (1 litre) cloudy apple juice
  • 1 (1) orange
  • 2 (2) cinnamon sticks
  • 4 (4) star anise

Decorations

Instructions
 

  • Add the apple juice to a saucepan on a medium/low heat.
  • Slice the orange in half. Squeeze the juice from one-half of the orange into the apple juice. Slice the remaining half into slices and keep to the side to decorate the glasses.
  • Add the star anise and cinnamon sticks.
  • Allow the apple juice to simmer gently for 5 minutes until warm.
  • Pour the apple juice into the glasses. Decorate with orange slices, the spices from the apple juice and a few redcurrants for colour.
