Pears on Toast – Mozzarella and Chilli

Add a lovely twist to toast with my Pears on Toast with Mozzarella and Chilli. It makes it a little more Mediterranean and even more delicious.

This is one of my favourites ways to have pear on toast. It’s a good spicy dish with the fresh chilli. I love olive and balsamic vinegar to dip toasted sourdough into and this just takes to the next level. The creamy mozzarella you wouldn’t think would go with the softness of the pears but they actually work really well together. The juicy pears and spicy chilli really go well together and are rather addictive to me.

The fire of chilli

I am a chilli fiend. I love a spicy meal especially when it’s near the upper end of spice. I will have to stop if I can’t taste the other flavours in the dish though. Fresh chillies are always to be found in my house. I’ve tried growing them without success so I’m a sucker for a farmer’s market and expertly grown fresh chillies, chillies sauces and chilli chutneys too.

Some people find a love of chilli spice and juicy fruit a weird combination but I have to admit a love of it. Especially when you have lychees and starfruit in rich and flavoursome Thai curries. I’m hungry just thinking about it.

I really hope you enjoy this idea of having pears on toast with mozzarella and chilli. A drizzle of balsamic vinegar and olive oil is just an extra indulgence on an already delicious snack.

Ingredients
 

  • Sourdough bread
  • mozzarella
  • 1 Ripe pear
  • Red chilli
  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • Olive Oil

Instructions
 

  • Toast the sourdough. I use the grill as I like the chunky toast and it doesn’t always fit in the toaster. Keep an eye on it though as grilling can cook it a bit quick.
  • Peel and slice a pear and add to the toast with pieces of mozzarella.
  • Slice up a chilli and place on top. Drizzle with a little balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Enjoy
