These sticky cranberry cocktail sausages are the highlight of Christmas in my house. We make these cranberry and sweet chilli cocktail sausages as often as we can and they never last long. Sweet and juicy cranberries with a spicy chilli glaze really makes these sticky cocktail sausages the best of Christmas party food.

Cranberry is one of my favourite festive flavours. The sharpness pairs perfectly with the sticky, salty and sweet cocktail sausages. Mix that in with a sweet chilli kick and you’re on to some winning party food.

CRANBERRY SAUCE

They wouldn’t be cranberry sausages without a healthy dollop of cranberry sauce. I love using a well-set cranberry sauce for this recipe, but if you prefer you can make your own by following my homemade cranberry sauce recipe. As it’s getting mixed together it doesn’t matter too much at all.

This is a great recipe for leftover cranberry sauce cocktail sausages.

Perfectly sweet and with a kick, I adore using sweet chilli to level up my Christmas party food. Making Sweet Chilli cocktail sausages is a great way to introduce some heat to your party food.

Sticky sausages honey soy are amazing this time of year and they are easy to make, this recipe is based on Nigella’s cocktail sausages. Which are almost as good as these. Mine have a lot more orange flavours.

COCKTAIL SAUSAGES

I prefer to use fresh cocktail sausages for this sweet chilli cocktail Sausages recipe.

Frozen cocktail sausages can have a bit more moisture for the sticky chilli sauce, but frozen still works well. Plus if they aren’t frozen you can eat them even quick. No need to wait for them to defrsoted.

How to make Sticky Cranberry Sausages – step by step

Combine your leftover cranberry sauce / jam with the sweet chilli sauce.

Measure out your soy sauce and your brown sugar, this helps to make the marinade extra sticky and sweet.

You’ll also want to mix all the ingredients together at this point to make it easier to pour over your marinade.

Add a quick squeeze of lime to up the tangy flavour and pour in your orange juice. Pour the orange juice slowly and little by little so as not to make your Sticky cranberry marinade too runny.

Stir gently to combine the ingredients and get ready to pour/spread them over your Christmas cocktail sausages.

Once your cocktail sausages are well covered, bake them for the allotted time in the recipe below and enjoy!

Just don’t forget to let them cool a little before diving in as the marinade can stay very hot.

Top Tips

Make the marinade and mix it with the sausages in advance. They will last well in the fridge for a day or so. A great get ahead party food. From the fridge you can pour the mix into an oven proof dish and bake.

Freeze your leftover cranberry sausages to enjoy on New Years of even into January, they freeze really well and taste just as good after being reheated.

Sticky cranberry cocktail sausages can be served either hot or cold, personally I like them hot but they are delicious either way. I don’t think I’ve ever left them alone long enough to let them get cold.

As they are so sticky you will need some tooth picks or napkins to give your guests as you eat them.

Ingredients
 

  • 30 (30) cocktail sausages
  • 60 ml (60 ml) sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (1 tablespoon) cranberry sauce (heaped tablespoon)
  • 1 tablespoon (1 tablespoon) soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (1 tablespoon) brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoon (2 tablespoon) orange juice
  • small pinch of cinnamon (optional)
  • 0.5 (0.5) lime juice

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 200ºC/ 392ºF/ Gas mark 6.
  • In a measuring jug add the 60ml sweet chilli sauce, 1 heaped tablespoon cranberry sauce, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 2 tablespoons orange juice and juice of half a lime. Plus the cinnamon if you want to make it extra christmassy.
  • Mix the sauce together until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Add a layer of aluminium foil to a baking tray and put the sausages on it.
  • Pour the marinade sauce mixture over the sausages and turn the sausages to coat them.
  • Cook in the oven for 30-40 minutes. Turn after 20 minutes.
