Cinnamon has such a wonderfully, warm Christmassy flavour and in puff pastry, you can’t go wrong.

PUFF PASTRY

Everyone loves pastry. Its flaky and delicious and incredibly versatile; use it for desserts, pies and sausage roll! or these cinnamon puff pastry swirls. I used ready rolled puff pastry for these puff pastry cinnamon swirls as it makes a quick recipe even quicker!

How to makepuff pastry cinnamon swirls – step by step

  • Preheat the oven and line the baking sheets with baking paper.
  • Unroll the puff pastry sheet
  • Melt the butter and brush it using a pastry brush over the rolled out pastry.
  • In a bowl mix together the cinnamon and the granulated sugar. Sprinkle it over the pastry evenly.

  • Preheat the oven and line the baking sheets with baking paper.
  • Unroll the puff pastry sheet
  • Melt the butter and brush it using a pastry brush over the rolled out pastry.
  • In a bowl mix together the cinnamon and the granulated sugar. Sprinkle it over the pastry evenly.
  • Roll up the puff pastry from along the long side. Place it seam side down.
  • Using a sharp knife, carefully cut slices and place them on the prepared baking trays. Give them a little distance between them as they will spread when baking.
  • In the small bowl beat the egg. Use a pastry to brush the egg over the slices of Cinnamon Puff Pastry Swirls.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden.
  • Enjoy when still warm with a dusting of icing sugar, more cinnamon or just straight off the cooling rack.

  • Remove the puff pastry from the fridge about 20 minutes before you want to start. This will help it be soft enough to unroll without breaking.
  • As an option, you can pop the roll of puff pastry back in the fridge before you cut it, until you need it. Even a 10-minute rest will help. It will still work without popping it back in the fridge.

  • 375 g (13 ¼ oz) Puff Pastry (ready rolled sheet is best)
  • 50 g unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons (1 ⅘ cups) ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons light brown soft sugar (or demerara sugar)

  • Roll up the puff pastry from along the long side. Place it seam side down.
