Camembert
Camembert is a soft, creamy cheese that originated in Normandy, France.
It is typically made from cow’s milk and has a rind that is meant to be eaten along with the cheese but many people prefer to just eat the gooey centre.
The cheese has a bloomy white exterior that is often described as resembling a mushroom cap. The interior of the cheese is soft, runny, and has a slightly nutty flavour. Camembert is often compared to brie cheese, but it has a stronger flavour and aroma due to its smaller size and the shorter ageing process.

Baking camembert in an air fryer is very simple.
You start by making a little cross at the top of your camembert. This stops it from overflowing.
Then place your cheese in the air fryer in its wooden shell or on some greaseproof paper.
Then cook your camembert for about 15 minutes in the air fryer until it’s gooey and melted.
Air Fryer Camembert Top Tips
Serve the camembert cooked in the air fryer immediately after cooking to enjoy it at its ooey-gooey best.
Experiment with different flavours and toppings to find the combination that works best for you. Some of my favourites include adding honey, rosemary, and garlic to the camembert before you cook it.
Be mindful of the cooking time and temperature, as overcooking can lead to a tough and rubbery texture. It’s best to keep an eye on it. Don’t be tempted to cook it a little longer if you think it’s done.
Camembert Serving Suggestions
Bread and breadsticks
For a classic presentation, simply place the melted cheese in a dish alongside some crackers or sliced baguette. Make sure you toast the slices of bread to make toasty little bread chunks.
Nuts and seeds
For a fancier touch, top the air fryer camembert with a drizzle of honey, a sprinkle of toasted nuts, or a few sprigs of fresh rosemary. This takes your simple baked cheese on the air fryer to a whole new level.
Camembert charcuterie board
If you want to make a meal from the baked camembert in the air fryer, try pairing it with a salad or a charcuterie board. The creamy richness of the cheese pairs perfectly with the saltiness of cured meats and the tanginess of pickles or olives. Throw in a few crackers or breadsticks and you’re having a party.
Serve with a roast dinner
You could even serve the camembert as a side dish with roasted chicken or baked sweet potatoes. Dipping your roasted veggies in this baked camembert in the air fryer is one of the best things to do.
Chutneys
In autumn I love making jams and chutneys. A caramelised sweet onion chutney or sweetcorn chutney with this camembert cooked in the air fryer.
Fresh fruit
For a lighter afternoon snack or a summer picnic treat, throw some fresh fruit onto the plate with your baked camembert. Think apples, berries or grapes.
Even more cheese!
The possibilities are endless when it comes to serving air fryer camembert, so don’t be afraid to experiment and find your favourite way to enjoy this delicious dish. Try baking some brie in the air fryer too, or serve some mozzarella sticks.

Substitutions and variations
air fryer camembert with honey
Season your camembert before it goes in the air fryer with thyme and crushed garlic then drizzle it with honey. The mix of sweet honey along with roasted garlic is to die for.
air fryer camembert with garlic
Add garlic and honey to the top of the cheese before cooking. Easy garlic works so well for this as its oily saturation keeps it from drying out as the cheese cooks in the air fryer.
Honey Mustard
The tanginess of the mustard pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the honey to create a delicious contrast in flavours. Just simply brush it across the top of your air fryer camembert before baking.
Raspberry Jam
The tartness of the jam cuts through the richness of the cheese and adds a fruity note to the dish.
Balsamic Glaze
The sweetness of the glaze complements the nutty flavour of the cheese and adds a touch of acidity to this baked air fryer camembert.
Garlic Aioli
The creaminess of the aioli enhances the creaminess of the cheese and the garlic adds a savoury note to the dish. A simple way to level up your easy baked camembert.
Storing air fryer camembert / Making ahead of time options
Luckily as cooking camembert is so easy to make you don’t really need to prepare it in advance. The only way you could get ahead is to peel the cheese, cut the cross and leave it in the fridge until you are ready to bake the camembert in the air fryer.
Baked camembert is also a great last-minute party food!

Can you cook Camembert in the wood it comes in?
You can bake your camembert in the wooden box it comes in as long as you take the paper wrapping off. However, most camemberts don’t come in wooden boxes now so if yours is in cardboard remember to take it out first.
