Pears on Toast – Bacon and Balsamic Vinegar

Pears on Toast – Bacon and Balsamic Vinegar. A lovely way of adding pear to create a beautiful breakfast. The balsamic vinegar adds a tartness to the sweet.

So this is kind of an epic open style bacon sandwich. The best sourdough base covered with bacon and pears. The saltiness of the bacon really works with the juicy sweetness of the pear. Plus a dash of balsamic vinegar really takes it too new heights with it’s delicious tartness. If you are feeling really opulent then add an egg as well.

Balsamic vinegar being poured over pears and bacon sourdough toast.

Just look at that balsamic vinegar pouring over the bacon. It’s very very enticing. I really like bacon and I really like pears. It seemed inevitable that they would be paired together eventually. I am a fan of smoked bacon. I don’t have it a lot so it is a treat. Getting proper farm bacon that has come from a good breeder and where the animals have enjoyed being outside. Like a lot of people I have drastically cut down my meat consumption. Now I chose to eat less I also think about where the food is coming from. I want free range.

Smoked or non-smoked bacon with pears?

Bacon and pear is a beautiful combination. I have tried it with both smoked and non-smoked bacon. I prefer the smoked bacon as it has that more robust taste which compliments the juicy pear perfectly. The smoked adds that little something extra. Unsmoked bacon is also delicious. I would love to know what you think of them!

Ingredients

  • Sourdough bread
  • Smoked bacon
  • 1 Ripe pear
  • Balsamic Vinegar

Instructions

  • Toast the sourdough. I use the grill as I like the chunky toast and it doesn’t always fit in the toaster. Keep an eye on it though as grilling can cook it a bit quick.
  • Cook the bacon to your style and add to the sourdough.
  • Peel and slice a pear and lay them over the bacon.
  • Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and enjoy straight away.

Of all your pear recipies, this looks like my favourite. Bacon and anything is a winning combination, but pears intrigues me and I look forward to trying it!
