Creme Eggs are so popular that I couldn’t help trying to turn them into pancakes. This lovely stack of Creme Egg pancakes are easy to make and so moreish! Creme Eggs are everywhere I can’t seem to ignore them so I’ve started adding to them everything. My latest trial was to see how they faired in a chunky pancake stack.
Conclusion it not only works but it tastes pretty incredible. Very sweet as the Creme Eggs are so sweet anyway but absolutely addictive. I’ve made them a few times to make sure they really really work – definitely wasn’t so I could eat them time and time again.

What is the Flavour of creme egg?
A creme egg is a chocolate egg filled with sweet white and yellow core, made to look like an egg. The chocolate shell has a rich chocolate flavour and the white filling is sweet and sugary. They are made from Cadbury in the U.K but there are similar versions in the USA from Hershey.

Easter breakfast or Easter brunch needs these pancakes. They are fun and chocolatey and have Easter eggs in them and on them. What could possibly be better!
For the Creme Eggs that go in the Pancakes make sure you freeze them for a time before hand. This helps the filling solidify a bit more so when you cut them up you don’t end up losing the filling before cooking.
Can you believe over 200 million Creme Eggs are sold each year?! I think that will be going up once you’ve tried these.
What’s the inside of a creme egg?
The inside of a creme egg is a sugary fondant which has been coloured to look like the egg white and egg yolk.
It is very sweet but for a sweet breakfast of Easter pancakes it works so well. If the pan is too hot the sugar can burn slightly so be aware as you cook them. If the pan is at a medium heat the sugar will help make a caramel type glaze.
How long does it take to make Easter pancakes?
These pancakes only take 20 minutes to mix together and cook. It’s so easy and perfect for making at short notice too. When you freeze the Creme Egg make sure you don’t leave it in for too long as when they become absolutely rock hard and very hard to cut.
I have found about 30 minutes to 45 minutes is the perfect time. When they are cooked the chocolate fragments become like chocolate chips. The egg centres melt slightly and going very gooey.
Of course I had a few spare Creme Eggs to nibble on after the Creme Egg pancakes were all enjoyed and the washing up was done. I did wait a few hours though!
I love the look of these golden brown pancakes topped with a Creme Egg. Especially when it the middle of the eff runs over them. Easter heaven brunch right here.

What can I serve with the Easter panckes?
With these easter Creme Egg Pancakes I would recommend something fresh and healthy. Fresh fruit would be my first choice. The juicy fruit will help cut through the sweetness of the pancakes. It will also go a little way towards this being a healthy breakfast.

How incredible does this look! By placing a Creme Egg on top of the pancakes once they are cooked the heat will melt the egg over the pancakes. Then you get this beautiful runny egg to dip your pancake into.
How do I add creme egg to the pancakes?
Adding creme eggs to the pancake mix needs some advance prep but only 45 minutes at a max.
The Creme Eggs need to placed into the freezer for before you chop them to add to the pancakes. This helps keep the egg white intact and stops it melting too quickly in the pan.
When the Creme Egg is out of the freezer, carefully chop it up. Mix it into the pancake mixture and start cooking them.
What happens if you melt a creme egg?
If you melt a creme egg as a whole it will go into a gooey mix of chocolate and sugary fondant. It’s not the prettiest.
If you chop it up like, the Creme Egg Pancakes, below the small pieces become more like chocolate chips with a sugary chips fondant type chips too.
Are Creme Eggs vegetarian?
Cadbury’s Creme Eggs are suitable for vegetarians but not for vegans.
How unhealthy is a creme egg?
Creme Eggs are definitely not healthy so are firmly marked in the treat category. One Creme Egg contains about 6 teaspoons of sugar which is crazy. Just shy of the daily amount recommended for an adult per day.

Creme Egg Pancakes
- Frying pan or hot plate
- Mixing bowl
- chopping board
- 2 Cadbury Creme Eggs
- 200 g self-raising flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon icing sugar / confectioners sugar
- 25 g caster sugar
- 25 g unsalted butter melted
- 1 medium egg
- 250 ml milk
- butter for the pan
- Before you start pop 1 Creme Egg into the freezer for 30 minutes.
- Sieve the flour in to a bowl along with the baking powder. Stir in the caster sugar.
- Melt the butter and allow to cool slightly before adding to the mix. Whisk it in along with the egg.
- Whisk in the milk.
- Take the Creme Egg from the freezer and chop it up into small chunks and add it to the mix.
- Heat up a frying pan until it's a medium/high heat.
- Add a little butter to the pan and allow to melt.
- Put a spoonful of mix into the pan (I can usually do 4 in a pan to make a stack each round). When the pancakes start to bubble flip them over.
- When they are done stack them on a plate and add half of the remaining Creme Egg to melt over the top.
